The Sixth Internationl Arab Conference on Qulity Assurance in Higher Education (IACQA'2016) will be held at SUST, Sudan.
SUST is one of the oldest universities in the country. It was established in 1950 under the name of Khartoum Institute, which had a number of departments of engineering, fine arts and business. In 1976, some other technical institutes were attached to it under the name of Technological Colleges Institute. In 1990, when the higher education revolution started, it was promoted to SUST. |

Its distinction springs from quality and quantity excellence in the engineering and IT specialties. In a decade, the number of students and programmes multiplied ten times. SUST enjoys good cultural and scholarly relations with various institutions abroad, granting it international prominence. Furthermore, it set future plans and developed quality performance in several Arab universities in order to carry out the UNDP programme in 2002. Its 2008 Computer Science programme at the Faculty of Science, Psychology programme at the Faculty of Education and the Electrical and Electronic Engineering programmes at the Faculty of Engineering were assessed as Applied. In 2010, the AARU Institutional Evaluation was carried out there as the first experience. In the period 2014-2015, a number of professors of Arab universities were qualified as external assessors for the QA Council at the AARU. That provided training for experts in evaluation and QA of higher education institutions, focusing on several standards such as raising the level of the faculty members’ performance and developing the administrative context. SUST consists of 20 faculties, each with a mission and vision to accomplish, as well as a number of departments ranging between one and eleven. There are also institutes and research centres, offering Bachelor and Master programmes.
